Community Initiative Support Services, a demand driven, not for profit making development organization was registered in Kenya as an NGO in the year 1992. Guided by its integrated approach, the organization has continued to explore and develop innovative frameworks based on its experiences to attain sustainable development
CISS visualizes ‘ a just and healthy society’ cognizant of the fact that health is not just absence of disease but a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and that justice is a basic human right. Towards this end the organization strives in its mission to promote participatory community initiatives through strengthening capacities for sustainable development.
From 2015 to date, the organization with support from Bread for the World have been implementing DECHA food security project. The project was designed to help farmers in Nyanza Region (Seme, Gem, Alego Usonga and Rachuonyo East) to address some of the constraints they face in farming venture to attain food security with the development goal being to enhance sustainable livelihoods for the people of the target areas in Siaya, Kisumu and Homa Bay Counties.
