Launch: Hand-washing Kit Distribution – Alego
Community Initiative Support Services (CISS) views good health as one of the most important needs for the society. In our communities, the impact of poor hand hygiene habits is linked to increased occurrences of illness, absenteeism and decline in the productivity of school going children. To this end, CISS continues to promote hygiene practices in schools through provision of hand washing facilities and establishment of health clubs in schools. On Thursday 18 February, under the FOSEMA Project, Alego Field team under the leadership of Mr. Festus Otieno, launched the hand-washing kit distribution exercises that will see 10 schools benefit and improve their hygiene standards at a time when COVID-19 pandemic has further reinforced the importance of hand washing.
The launch was done at Nyakongo Kokang’ Primary School, North Alego, Siaya County.
The activity was graced by Mr. Robert Owino (Director, CISS), Mr. Odidi Mitchel (Admin & HR Manager, CISS), Mr Richard Obonyo (Sub-County Director of Education), Mr Hillary Okello (Public Health Officer), WASH Coordinator Madam Abigael Olwande and Fred Owino (Assistant Chief).
