Ukulima Women Group in Township Ward, Siaya County & Discovery Women Group, North Alego received their cheques from Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) Officer Mr. George Oketch. Standing (far left) is Ms. Evlyn Obado, Community Initiatives Support Services (CISS) Field Officer, Gem Office.

CISS is building capacity of its groups by encouraging uptake of development funds. According to a report by The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), women constitute 52% of the total Kenyan population and a majority of them have been excluded from the formal financial services, with rural women being the most disadvantaged. CISS, through its interventions and capacity building trainings has enlightened women groups and nurtured their desire to venture into entrepreneurship through credit uptake. About 20 women groups will benefit from WEF credit services.

Community Initiatives Support Services (CISS) is grateful to the entire Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) team under the leadership of their Regional Manager, Judith Odero and appreciate her steadfast commitment to supporting women development.
